A SAREE drape BUT using NO SAREE

The Saree is very dear to me. Hence I keep coming up with different drape styles so I can motivate/encourage more people to love and wear them.

Yes, my styles sometimes may mean crossing the line and even cutting the Saree. But, the main aim is always to draw attention to the Saree.
This time I am focusing on the saree pleats. Many of us shy away from wearing a saree because we cannot make those perfect pleats or can't handle them. However, did you know that if you learn to pleat the fabric you could drape the fabric in so many ways? They don't need to be 1000% perfect ;)
The link in this post will take you to the DIY video/reel that will quickly show you how I used two different fabrics to create a fusion dress. Using pins is a must to secure the fabric.
I separated the mulmul foil printed pallu from a saree and pleated it to make the lower drape. One one leg it looks like a dhoti while on the other it looks like a sarong.

The fabric that I used for the stole is a plain georgette fabric that I had dyed and kept to be make a saree in the future.

The black skirt can be replaced by shorts as long as you are wearing it for a short while and don't have to answer nature's call in between.

Will show you more styles using the same fabrics in the coming days.

Do show your love on the reel.❤

Heartiest Congratulations to the beautiful Rochelle Maria Rao on winning the Miss India International title at the Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2012. All the very best and God Bless You. Fashion and Food - My Pandemic Journey

Colors make me happy.  I do love wearing white dresses. But, I will always team them up with a colorful accessory. White to me is like a canvas that is waiting to be painted on. It has been good 14 years since I started my label KIM PEREIRA.   When I started in 2007, the Saree chose me. Though I am trained in western dresses, I started my career by designing sarees. Destiny had its own plan. Sarees led me to anarkalis and lehengas, and this all gave me the world 🌎 on a platter.  There was no looking back from then on. But, I wanted to design white wedding gowns. And this took me from Mumbai back to Goa in 2016.  It is then that I got to design the first catholic wedding gown. But wait a minute. There is a twist.  Remember the book Alchemist? Everything that the boy learnt on his journey came in handy later. Right? So, coming back to the white wedding gown that I got to design for a beautiful goan bride. She wanted golden embroidery on her dress. Surprised? I am glad she dared to be di
