Kim Pereira's Cotton Mulmul Collection For Worldwide Coming Soon

Having made a lot of heavy handwork bridal garments I decided it is time to venture into something that will be a first for me. For most a Kp garment is synonymous to bridal garments; & this had to change inorder to tap the wider market. Plus I had very short time to get my collection ready for my PoP-Up Store at the India Beach Fashion Week (IBFW) 2015 in Goa Cotton Mulmul is a widely accepted and loved fabric. Its soft texture, its smooth flow and light weight will make anyone fall for it. So I decided that this will be my fabric for the next collection. And to give it a Kp touch, I added small handwork embroidery patches. One could wear a bikini inside instead of a peticoat / slip. It purely depends on your comfort level and where you wear it to. The Collection will be available on https://www.etsy.com/in-en/shop/KimPereiraF VERY SOON.

Trail Fever

I love Trails. Given a once I would love every gown to have them. But phew, the brides would have a problem. So today I dug this fabric I shopped from Goa and let the trail fever take over moi. Everyone wears trails on long gowns or short gowns. Hence I decided to keep my net gown till ankle length while the shimmer lining ended just above the knees. This way I had the long and short concept. But what about the trail. It would be fun if I could play with the trail to make the outfit look different every time my clients wore it. In the first picture attached you will see that I have attached the trail to the waist at the back of the gown and in the next pic it is attached on the shoulder. Now since this is detachable one could also attach it on one side of the waist in the front. https://instagram.com/p/4ZJaJCtOMC/

Soften The Bling With Prints

Often we think twice before we buy that sequence embellished dress. Obviously we wouldn't want to steal the bride's cake. Many a times we force ourselves to buy dull looking dresses, the dresses we would not look at for years as it was a forced choice. Poor Dress. Well bling is king of occasions and to make it subtle one could add a few printed fabrics. I had this gorgeous Black Anarkali with a sequence yoke that I wanted to be accepted at the first go. So I searched my Box and took out a plain chiffon cloth and sent it to the digital printing guys to create a floral print fabric. This was my first. Attached here are two garments using the print that was digitally made. My Black Anarkali looks so gorgeous with the floral print dupatta. And the simple Saree is a stunner.

Fusion to avoid Confusion

For those overseas and those wanting an Indian attire with a different look. The Fusion Anarkali Gown will be a saviour. You could wear it as a gown / dress sans the chudidar / pant and dupatta / stole. Or you could wear it with the pant and stole to make it an Indian outfit. The picture I have uploaded here is of my latest Anarkali Fusion Gown that is 24 mtrs flare. So gals if you love to swirl then hurry and grab this one. I specialise in Customised Garments so any size and length can be ordered. The happy colours will make keep you smiling.

Long Live The Traditional Saree.... but before that will tell you a long story

In 2011 I submitted two designs so I could be selected to participate in the Lakme Fashion Week. It was too early to aim at that platform but I have always done what my heart said. Accepting failure positively is just another step towards success. So yes, my saree designs didn't get selected but I got the ticket / pass to watch the Gen Next Show....something I wouldn't want to miss. What I didnt realise was that the ticket was valid only for the one show and not for all of them on that particular day. When I reached the venue I was miserable and yet believed that I would get to enter somehow. Fortunately my friend was around and he knew this person who knew Akshay Kumar (Bollywood Superstar). So there..... I had the passes ordered via AK's office and got to meet the important people of the industry. It is here I met an elderly man from TOI who asked me how I planned to stand out in the fashion industry....what was my main motto After talking for a while I realised I love th

Long Live The Saree :D

Not all are comfortable wearing the Saree. Some think they are too young to wear it while the older ones think they will look the same old self by wearing another saree. So the Saree Gown invention is perfect for these type of women. It looks like a gown and yet has a saree tinge to it because of the pallu / stole draping; and it is pre stitched ;) I have uploaded a Saree Gown Picture designed by me for a close friend in Colaba, Mumbai. It has thread / resham embroidery in the front and the back of the yoke. The back work is sexily designed to reveal the beautiful back elegantly.

Playing with Colours

Colours make us feel good. However too much of it in a garment can make one look like a Rainbow. And who would want that. So if you are someone who loves vibrant colours and yet want to keep it subtle then the best thing is to add a darker colour in one shade either to the top or bottom of the garment. Eg. have a single colour yoke / blouse and the kalis / lehenga could be colourful. and the dupatta could be shimmery but subtle. Just like the lehenga picture I have uploaded here. With the Maharani neckline on the blouse and few borders on the lehenga and the dupatta you will look no less than a maharani on your special day.

Smile is a Must

Today's Weddings are like Fashion Shows. Everyone is trying hard to look their best. Some may revamp their old outfits while others may borrow from their friends and squeeze into them while many may buy new designer clothes. For many it is like the more the bling and work, the better and trendy it is..... In this made up competition one fails to appreciate their true beauty though deep down they know that actual beauty lies in simplicity. So wear on your best Smile no matter how simple your outfit is and look like a Diva.
